experience

Dan Pont established an MFT private practice in Carbon County, Wyoming in 1991 with Dr. Bill Gunn as his supervisor until he was licensed by the State of Wyoming in 1993.  Dan spent over 20 years working with families, couples, parents and individuals using the theories and methods of marriage & family therapy to solve relationship problems and help people live more functional lives. He also worked with high school students at the Alternative High School, removing barriers to learning and helping them plan for their quickly arriving adult lives.  For several years Dan also worked as the counselor for Wee Folks in Hanna, Wyoming and Child Development in Saratoga doing play therapy with preschool kids, advising teachers and parents about how to improve the developmental paths of kids and families who were working through a myriad of challenges.

Dan has been on a hiatus since 2015, running CopperLine Lodge in Saratoga, a 13 room bed & breakfast that he remodeled and revitalized.  He's been sitting at breakfast with hotel guests every morning for the past 10 years and has this to say about innkeeping: "Good conversations at breakfast require the same skill set as counseling, but with short term guests, it's always a 1st session!"  After that extended break, Dan updated his license in early 2025 and is accepting a few clients again with new energy and a desire to help.
